A2P SMS Compliance

A2P 10DLC for contractors — the do's and don'ts.

Texting customers is allowed. Spamming them isn't. Here's the compliance framework for contractors who want to use SMS without getting their numbers shut down.

01

Brand + campaign registration

Every business sending A2P SMS in the US needs to register its brand and campaigns. Carriers enforce this. We do it for every Heist client.

02

Opt-in flow

Explicit consent at the form. Privacy + terms linked. Message frequency disclosed. Records retained.

03

STOP / HELP keywords

Every campaign needs working STOP and HELP keyword handling. Automated reply. Logged and audited.

Deep dive

How we actually run it

Consent language that works

By providing my phone number I agree to receive text messages from Heist Marketing about my inquiry. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy.

Do

  • Send transactional messages — appointment confirmations, lead notifications, job updates.
  • Respect STOP immediately and permanently.
  • Use a single registered short code or 10DLC long code per campaign.

Don't

  • Send marketing blasts to numbers that only consented to transactional.
  • Reuse phone numbers across unrelated campaigns.
  • Forget to update consent records when a customer opts back in.
